july 2006
For the fourth of July, we
headed down to Salem to meet up with our good friends for a day of hiking
and sightseeing at
Silver Falls State Park. We hiked down a steep trail into a bowl of
rainforest on a spectacular July day, snapping pictures one after the
other. The trail our friends had chosen is a less trafficked part of the
park, which meant we didn't have to contend with the crowds at the main
park and campground, which was nice considering it was a holiday at it
seemed everyone in the state had come to the park. (After our hike, we did
head over to the main part of the park and despite the crowd, managed to
find a nice shady spot for a picnic. The last three pictures were taken
there.)
The falls were stunning. I
don't have words to do them justice so I'll just let the pictures speak
for themselves.
