life in the northwest

We've been here since August 2000 and in that time, have been pretty aggressive about experiencing as much of the Pacific Northwest as possible. Would you believe that we've barely made a dent in our list?

But you can get a glimpse of the trips we've taken so far and keep checking back for the future trips we plan to take. Details of each trip can be found in the newsletter archives.

backyard majesties

Mountains to the east.

Beaches to the west.

Waterfalls in between.

mt. st. helens

Come see the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the natural world.

seattle, orcas island, & bellingham

Because of this trip, we've vowed that our future holds a life in the San Juan Islands.

Hey, it could happen.

crater lake

Sure volcanoes are scary.

But boy, do they create some dramatic geography.

oregon coast drive & the redwoods

We had no idea when we took this trip what it would come to mean to us only a month later.

arcadia anniversary

Who knew the best way to celebrate an anniversary was flying kites at the beach?

pike place market

This was the first time we truly started to appreciate Seattle.

No, scratch that.  This is when we we first started falling in love with it.

arizona

Lots of family, big birthday surprises, and one of the seven wonders of the natural world.

The best way to break in a digital camera.

arcadia christmas

A day at the mall searching for a parking space vs. chillin' seaside and watching the waves crash on the sand?

Hmmm....

mount vernon & seattle

Join us as we tiptoe through the tulips at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, navigate the steep hillsides of Seattle after dark, and enjoy the beauty of Snoqualmie Falls.

arcadia heat escape

If we wanted heat, we would've moved to the surface of the sun. Thankfully, relief lies only an hour west. Unless, of course, everyone else has the same idea.

Still...so worth it.

oregon garden

Almost makes you want to pack up a wicker basket full of cucumber and watercress sandwiches and dress up in Victorian clothes for a day of picnicking.

Almost.

mt. angel oktoberfest

One of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations this side of...er...well, it's big, anyway. As for why it's in September? No idea.

seaside vacation

A romantic getaway to the Oregon coast for a few days. Private hot tub, fireplace, and room service.

Oh, and something about a "view".

silver creek falls

Trees like skyscrapers. Waterfalls you can walk behind. Ridiculously beautiful scenery.

Happy Birthday, America.

downtown portland

Visiting our city like the tourists we never were.

Except, you know, without the sandals and black socks.
