02.01.06
sunburst

Sal's been baking again. I love the sunburst he worked into the icing on the top.

02.02.06
overflow

This impromptu waterfalls happen on Bridge Avenue when there's been a lot of rain. Like, say, 40 days and 40 nights.... This one has been greeting me on my way home from work for weeks.

02.03.06
emergency

An ambulance in the oncoming lanes on the bridge meant we had to stop for a bit on the bridge. That's downtown through the bars; the big dark space is the river.

02.04.06
little helper

Spent the day sewing buttons on the new attic curtains. Hobbes decided to help by napping on my lap while I worked.

02.05.06
server setup

Sal's been working on setting up the server and network here at Hall House. We've probably got the most high-tech almost-100-year-old house on the block.

02.06.06
heather

The heather's finally blooming, which means the crocus and daffodils will be blooming in couple of weeks. There'll be more blooms on this plant, and the color will intensify in a few weeks, too. Spring is on its way!

02.07.06
good day, sunshine

This is the first morning we've had sunshine on the way to work for quite some time.

02.08.06
morning coffee

Trying out another café nearby. I'm not a morning person, but there's something to be said for getting up early and spending the morning at your local haunt with a cup of coffee (hot chocolate), a pastry, and your favorite person in the whole world.

02.09.06
dormant volcano

That's Mt. St. Helens waaay off in the distance. Hard to believe there used to be a 1,000 ft. peak there.

02.10.06
longview

That's the shipping town of Longview, WA, with the first bridge straddling the Columbia River and Mt. St. Helens in the background.

02.11.06
river commerce

I wonder if this ship might be headed to the Port of Portland, and go right past our house 50 miles upriver?

02.12.06
happy birthday

Did you have these growing up? I received one every year for my birthday. Would you believe I have them going all the way up to 21?

02.13.06
river's mouth

A view of the mouth of the mighty Columbia, taken from Astoria. Did you know the mouth of the Columbia River is known as the Graveyard of the Pacific?

02.14.06
valentines

Roses in a café window.

02.15.06
sunset at seaside

For my birthday and a much-needed break for both of us, we spent a few days at the Oregon Coast. This is just one of many beautimous pictures I took there. Go here to see more.

02.16.06
light reflecting

Looking west, out across the wide open seas. I could spend a lifetime just gazing out over the water.

02.17.06
seaside

Walking along the beach in Seaside.

02.18.06
romance package

The hotel package Sal got for our little coastal getaway was called a "romance package". It included these little extras, which greeted us when we checked in.

02.19.06
cool dude

Who needs Brad Pitt when you've got someone like this?

02.20.06
filtered sunset

The sun's descent, as viewed through the curtained windows of our room.

02.21.06
sand dollars

We were strolling along the beach when a little girl came up to us and gave these to us and said, "These are for you." They're the first intact sand dollars we've ever gotten at the beach.

02.22.06
shadows in the sand

Taken along our stroll.

02.23.06
campaign kickoff

Attended the campaign kickoff party for one of our local City Council members, Erik Sten. This would be our city's mayor, Tom Potter.

02.24.06
corner

This is the infamous out-of-plumb corner in our living room, which also just happens to be the place I chose to make the two colors meet. Apparently, I needed a challenge. Came out okay, though.

02.25.06
cyber kitty

Hobbes takes a break from surfing.

02.26.06
steam

We were downtown on a particularly nippy night and I noticed the steam from a nearby restaurant making this cool effect in front of a streetlight.

02.27.06
color

All of that delicious, glorious color, and most people choose white. What a shame.

02.28.06
bridgeport

Spent the evening at Bridgeport Brewery for dinner and drinks with friends. I love this town.
