picture a day past

01.01.06
resolution

I don't believe in New Years' resolutions, but if I did, I'd resolve to spend more of this year at the coast.

01.02.06
shadowy stream

Shot this during the trip around Mt. Hood this summer.

01.03.06
pink feather boa

Our niece's birthday is coming up next week; Sal picked this outfit for her. He added the boa, saying, "Every girl needs a pink feather boa." Which explains why he's her favorite uncle.

01.04.06
full moon

Something about this shot from the Grand Canyon has an almost alien aspect.

01.05.06
405

I-405 SB (aka Stadium Freeway) on my way to work on (another) rainy morning.

01.06.06
neon overhead

Restored lighting at the old Laurelhurst Theater.

01.07.06
frozen berries

This is from the infamous ice storm of 2004. Two years to the day, as a matter of fact.

01.08.06
more moss

Yeah, learn to love moss, because I'm going to keep taking pictures of it.

01.09.06
corridor

Down one of the cubicle corridors at our new office. It really does look like Initech.

01.10.06
logo

Our company logo on one of the side doors. It's the first time we've had our logo on our door like this.

01.11.06
blue skies

We're approaching a record number of days of rainfall -- but there are these occasional burst of blue sky.

01.12.06
welcome back

One of my coworkers returned after a long sick leave and we had a small celebration. I volunteered Sal to make a cake for him. He came through, as usual.

01.13.06
portland spirit

With all the record rainfall, they've had to move the Portland Spirit from its usual dock down the river, which just happens to be in front of our living room window.

01.14.06
workday

Doin' a little job stuff on a Saturday like a good little worker.

01.15.06
lake o

At the intersection of State Street and "A" Avenue in the cha-ching 'burb of Lake Oswego.

01.16.06
"a" avenue

Lake Oswego again. That's Sur La Table across the street. It's like a FAO Schwartz for chefs.

01.17.06
haircut

Gettin' my haircut. Cass has been my stylist almost from the first time I've had my hair cut in Oregon. His place is Aspara Salon & Spa.

01.18.06
marquee

This is the terrific old Laurelhurst Theater. They show 2nd run movies and you can get a slice of Pizzicato Pizza and a mug of microbrew to enjoy while you watch the flick.

01.19.06
title screen

This was our last official viewing of Serenity on the big screen. Yes, I snapped some pics during the movie.

01.20.06
universal

I didn't intend to make a big ad for Universal or anything, this was just one of the pics that came out not blurry. Also? You can make out Sal's pint glass off to the left, between the log and the exit sign. Heh.

01.21.06
dueling laptops

So Sal's converted to a laptop now, too. And this is how we now spend our Saturdays: in the nook, each on our respective computers, talking and sharing mp3s that aren't in any way downloaded illegally off the internet.

01.22.06
captain tightpants

Okay, I was actually trying to get a good shot of Mal & Wash in the opening scene, but they turned out blurry (obviously). But I liked this pic anyway because Nathan Fillion's name came out so clearly. That's got to be a sign of something.

01.23.06
notions

So, I'm making the curtains for the attic. This display is the entirety of my sewing supplies. Absent the sewing machine, of course.

01.24.06
33

Attended a shindig at a club called "Crush" thrown by Planned Parenthood to celebrate and honor the 33rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

01.25.06
bus

I took this pic almost offhandedly -- didn't expect it to turn out so...cool.

01.26.06
what's for dinner?

The chef, trying to figure out how to make dinner out of dill pickles, leftover tofu, and a can of water chestnuts.

01.27.06
finger puppet

I bought this finger puppet because it looks just like Sal, complete with black hair pulled into a ponytail (he had long hair at the time). That's a little "whisk" embroidered on the pocket. Hee.

01.28.06
singer

More curtains. This was my mom's old machine back in the day, before she got a fancy-schmancy one that communicates with computers and probably knits sweaters, as well.

01.29.06
film

Woke up this morning to find these barricades set along our side of the street. Apparently, they'll be shooting  a movie in front of our house this week.

01.30.06
clippings

Smaug getting her claws trimmed. She's such a daddy's girl.

01.31.06
star wagons

These trailers are sitting in front of our house for the "big" production they're filming on our street. They actually do say "Star Wagons".
