picture a day past

08.01.05
directions

I don't know why I never noticed these before, but I love that the street names are carved directly into the Haseltine Building.

08.02.05
haseltine

Yet another famous historic Portland building, named for a prominent philanthropic Oregon family.

08.03.05
annex

This is an addition to the New Market Block that I shot a few days ago.

08.04.05
gorge

A typical summer day in the Columbia Gorge, though fewer windsurfers than usual.

08.05.05
postcards

A dear friend has spent the summer driving cross country and sent us these postcards along the way.

08.06.05
pillow

Hobbes dearly loves to lay his head in my hand and go to sleep. I pretend it annoys me, but secretly, I love it more than he does.

08.07.05
fierce

Smaug is hard to photograph because she won't sit still long enough. She also thinks she's a lot scarier than she is, so I decided to play around with filters and coloring a bit to make her the fierce tiger of her imagination.

08.08.05
syndication

Thank Eru for late-night reruns that don't suck. Being a night owl, I depend on decent background noise while I natter away at my little projects into the wee hours.

08.09.05
salvation

When the mercury climbs past 90 degrees, this is the only thing that stands between me and acts of desperation that could get me thrown in jail.

08.10.05
season one

Prime Meridian is a tv-crack dealing pimp-ho who not only got us hooked on the BSG crack earlier this year, but now has us hooked on the VM crack through, um, not-at-all-
copyright-infringing bit torrenting of all 22 episodes onto TV-playable DVDs.

08.11.05
scissors

Sometimes it's fun to try to make the most mundane objects look kinda cool.

08.12.05
welcome home

We hosted a party to welcome back our friend, who spent her summer traveling across the country.

08.13.05
streetlights

Coming home from a fun day spent with friends.

08.14.05
sunday morning

This is the breakfast area in our new master suite. The dishes were my anniversary present to Sal.

08.15.05
shooting assignment: "texture"

These purple chenille pillows were the inspiration color for our living room walls.

08.16.05
shooting assignment: "numbers"

These numbers are becoming uncomfortably familiar.

08.17.05
shooting assignment: "vigil"

We stood alongside these people (and many, many more) to show our solidarity with Cindy.

08.18.05
shooting assignment: "rear view"

Drizzly morning commute in my dirty rear view mirror.

08.19.05
shooting assignment: "warm"

When your thermostat reads 85 degrees, it's at least 10 degrees hotter in your non-air conditioned house.

08.20.05
tualatin valley

Sunset over the Tualatin Valley.

08.21.05
teamwork

It took four of us to light candles for the vigil. I think the breeze created that flame effect the camera caught.

08.22.05
shooting assignment: "M"

My "get through the workday" pills. Dosage depends on the type of day I'm having.

08.23.05
shooting assignment: "picture frame"

Twee-age aside, this is my favorite of all of our frames.

08.24.05
shooting assignment: "book"

It should come as no surprise that this is probably my all-time favorite book. This is the nice, "for show" copy, but the copies I actually fell in love with are battered and much-read.

08.25.05
shooting assignment: "symmetry"

The linoleum pattern on my kitchen floor. I used to hate it, but it's grown on me over the years. I'm still replacing it first chance I get, though.

08.26.05
shooting assignment: "bowl"

The cat bowl was a gift from Dad and Malinda. It was the first piece we put in our built-in buffet.

08.27.05
pioneer place

Pioneer Place and downtown Portland at night.

08.28.05
city street

Downtown Portland city street.

08.29.05
shooting assignment: "puddle"

All that was left the day after a drenching downpour.

08.30.05
shooting assignment: "flour"

We've had these blue canisters since our first apartment. They've always held three things: sugar, rice, and of course, flour.

08.31.05
shooting assignment: "disc"

A stack of discs waiting to be burned with MP3s and TV bit torrents that aren't at all downloaded illegally. Nope, not at all.
