03.28.05 shooting assignment:  "red" 03.29.05 shooting assignment: "history"

03.28.05 shooting assignment:  "red"

These are the tulips in my front yard, a welcome sight after a long and rainy day.

03.29.05 shooting assignment:  "history"

This is embedded in the sidewalk next to my house. Hahn may have been its original owner.

03.30.05 shooting assignment:  "reflection"

One of the three windows in my office, taken from the outside. The view reflected in the window is the view from my desk, out into the building's courtyard.

03.31.05 shooting assignment:  "food"

One whole wall of our kitchen. As H said the first time she visited: "Boy, sure can't tell a chef lives here, huh?"

04.01.05 shooting assignment:  "seven"

One of the four remote controls in our living room, where we sit a whopping five feet from the TV.

04.02.05 shooter's choice weekend

This is what happens when you let Nature do her thing in your front yard.

04.03.05 shooter's choice weekend

My supervisor on Work-From-Home-
Fridays.

04.04.05 shooting assignment: "skyline"

A waterfront view of downtown Portland, taken from the Eastside Esplanade at dusk.

04.05.05 shooting assignment: "time"

Yeah, so I went the obvious route. It was either this, or a pic of my Al Stewart CD. Bet this doesn't seem so lame now, huh?

04.06.05 shooting assignment: "candlelit"

We gave each other Claddagh rings as promise rings in college (back before they were popular with all the kool kidz) and its symbolism has a very special and personal meaning to us.

04.07.05 shooting assignment: "pillow"

I've always loved the designs on this pillow, even though it doesn't go with anything else I own.

04.08.05 shooting assignment: "hands"

These are the hands of some of the people I work with. Rock on, you guys.

04.10.05 shooter's choice weekend

The Steel Bridge at dusk.

04.10.05 shooter's choice weekend

My commute home. The view speaks for itself.

04.11.05 shooting assignment: signs week #1

I'd hoped to get a better shot of the sign for the bridge ramp with the bridge behind it, but the big white Ford in front of me pretty much nixed that idea. Still, I benefited from a nice lighting effect; click the pic to get a better view.

04.12.05 shooting assignment: signs week #2

This house is just a block away from mine. During the 2004 election, they had a big white sheet on the side of the house that said, "Don't Endorse Hate. Vote NO on 36." After the election, this took its place.

04.13.05 shooting assignment: signs week #3

This is where I live. I used to dream about it, when I lived very far away, and my dreams seemed much further than 1500 miles.

04.14.05 shooting assignment: signs week #4

I painted this on the back door the day Sal started his first sous chef position at Vivid to remind him to always dream big.

04.15.05 shooting assignment: signs #5

A gimme, I know. But the first time we ever went here was on our anniversary and it's one of my most favorite memories.

04.16.05 shooter's choice weekend

The view from the corner of my porch. I never get tired of it.

04.17.05 shooter's choice weekend

Also from my front porch. When I saw this view the first time, I knew this was our house.

04.18.05 shooting assignment: "fuzzy"

I defy anyone to stay in a bad mood when they come home to a cat wedged between their computer monitor and the dining room window, catchin' some rays. Don't you just want to rub your face in that furry belly?

04.19.05 shooter's choice weekday

This is the doorknocker we're hoping to put up soon, once it's time to paint the door purple. In Gaelic: "One Hundred Thousand Welcomes".

04.20.05 shooter's choice weekday

One of the many dozens of pictures we took this time last year at the tulip festival, but that we didn't post on the website.

04.21.05 shooter's choice weekday

One of the rhododendron blooms from our yard. Springtime in Oregon is an embarrassment of riches.

04.22.05 shooting assignment: "paper"

I guess Sal got tired of my habit of scribbling story ideas and writing inspirations on scraps of paper because he bought me a lovely embossed leather journal for just this purpose. I carry it with me everywhere.

04.23.05 shooter's choice weekend

Part of a larger picture that was evidence that yes, Sal hogs the entire bed.

04.24.05 shooter's choice weekend.

Glass beads in a vase. Beauty is where you find it.

04.25.05 shooting assignment: "stripes"

The curtains I made for the sliding glass windows in our Laramie apartment, that later served the same duty in our Beaverton apartment. I cut them in half and turned them into drapes for the front window of our very first (and only) house.

04.26.05 shooting assignment: "bottles"

We've saved all these wine bottles and put them on top of our kitchen cabinets. I don't know why; it makes us look like alkies. Heh.

04.27.05 shooting assignment: "calendar"

This is actually a Harley-Davidson calendar of my coworker's. This was the only angle to shoot it without the babe on the motorcycle at the top.

04.28.05 shooting assignment: "leaves"

This little Japanese maple was a housewarming gift from my mom to Sal. It's called "Firestorm".

04.29.05 shooting assignment: "shadow"

The chimes sitting on the plate rail outside the kitchen door. The idea when we bought it was to use it as a dinner chime but mostly, we just play with it when we're talking on the phone.

04.30.05 shooter's choice weekend

I spent the day painting these stripes on the kneewalls of our attic.
